Smithers Expands Kristofer Marsh‘s Role to Include State Director of Its New York Cannabis Testing Laboratory

(Akron, Ohio, USA) April 1, 2025 — Smithers, a leading provider of testing, consulting, information, and compliance services, recently expanded Kristofer Marsh, PhD, role to include leading the operations of its Cannabis Testing Laboratory, serving as State Director, in New York State. In this expanded role, Dr. Marsh will leverage his extensive experience in laboratory management, quality, regulatory affairs, and client relations within the cannabis industry to spearhead growth and support the team in the New York market.Marsh offers extensive expertise in scientific leadership and operational excellence, with a strong track record in quality management, and regulatory compliance. He is committed to delivering accurate, timely data while fostering strong client relationships to ensure that New York operators can focus on bringing their products to market. Marsh is relocating to New York to enhance his focus on the market and is expanding the team to support this state’s growing demand for quality cannabis testing services.
In addition to his new role as New York State Director, Marsh will continue to serve as Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) for Smithers Cannabis Testing Services, overseeing the quality and applications development teams.

Marsh has over seven years in the cannabis testing industry and eight years working in a testing laboratory with leadership roles focused on quality management, regulatory compliance, and method development for analytical chemistry. He has a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Towson University and a PhD in materials chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
